Batman begins (2005) Identify any codes and conventions

Batman Begins (2005) Identify any codes and conventions:
Firstly, At the start of Batman Begins it is timed back to when Bruce was little kid. It explains how Bruce's parents got murdered and how Bruce became Batman and why he did. Also it shows how Bruce has a fear of Bats. This is a typical back story of a superhero film as now Bruce wants to get revenge on who killed his parents, also the audience want to no why he wants to get revenge and how he became the superhero in these films and in Batman begins they tell the audience why Bruce is doing this.

Secondly, In typical Superhero films there is always a Villain, here in batman begins there is two villians who are Ra's al Ghul and Scarecrow.  These villains have similar abilities than Batman which means they could possibly beat Batman. In typical superhero films the Villain/s should always have a chance of beating the hero, this will make the audience feel tension and excitement as they don't no who will win the fight. At the start of the film Ra's al Ghul helps Bruce to train to be batman and how to fight. This shows they have both got the same ability as Ra's al Ghul taught Bruce, then as the film goes on he turns on Batman and becomes a villian and wants to defeat him.

Thirdly, In a typical superhero film there are helpers who help the hero defeat the villains and in Batman Begins there are two helpers who are Alfred and Lucius Fox. These help Batman throughout all of the film. They give Bruce advice what to do when he fights the villains when he is batman and also Lucius gave him a big tank what could shoot and go at speed. In Propp's Character types these two would be the Donor and helper, this shows the audience that it is a superhero film and any typical superhero films has these donor and helper to help the hero.
Fourthly, in Batman begins the princess is Rachael Dawes. Rachael and Bruce have been friends since childhood and Bruce is in love with her.  In this film the Villains try to attack and threaten Rachael to get back at Bruce, when Rachael is going to be attacked Batman always comes and saves her from the Villains. This is very common to happen in superhero films and this lets the audience no it is a typical superhero film.
Fifthly, in most Superhero films the setting is a famous well known city. In batman begins the setting is based in NewYork city. This shows the audience that is also a typical superhero film as it is set into a famous big city.
Lastly, the superhero is Batman. The audience will no this by the costume what Batman wears. He wears a cape, this is a very common costume for the heroes in superhero films. Also in most superhero films they don't show who they are they keep it as a secret, this means they will have a mask so they hide all of there identification. They do this because when they go back as being a human they want to live and normal human life, also its incase the villain starts to attack them when there human. This means they will be unable to defeat the villain and they will get defeated.

Marvel and DC Comics

Marvel Comics and DC
Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics is an American comic book line published by Marvel Entertainment. Affectionately called the House of Ideas by the fan press. Marvels best known comics titles are Fantastic Four, The Amazing Spider Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, Thor, Captain America, and X-Men. Most of Marvels fictional characters characters reside in the Marvel Universe.Since 1960s, it have been one of the two largest America comics companies, along with DC Comics. Located in New York City, Marvel has been successively headquartered in the McGraw-Hill Building on West 42nd Street(where it originated as Timely Comics in 1939); in suite 1401 of the Empire State building at 635 Madison Avenue ( the actual location, through the comics books' indicia listed the parent publishing company's address of 625 Madison Avenue); 575 Madison Avenue, 387 Pard Avenue South; 10 East 40th Street; and 417 Firth Avenue.Marvel Comics 1Timely Comics-Marvel Comics was founded by established pulp-magazine publisher Martin Goodman in 1939 as an eventual group of subsidiary companies under the umbrella name Timely Comics. Its first publication was Marvel Comics #1 (Oct. 1939), featuring the second appearance of Carl Burgos’ android superhero, the Human Torch, and the first generally available appearance of Bill Everett’s mutant anti-hero Namor the Sub-Mariner. The contents of that sales blockbuster were supplied by an outside packager, Funnies, Inc., but by the following year Timely had a staff in place. The company’s first editor, the writer-artist Joe Simon, teamed with soon-to-be industry legend Jack Kirby to create one of the first patriotically themed superheroes, Captain America, in Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941). It, too, proved a major sales hit. While no other Timely character would be as successful as these “big three”, some notable heroes — many continuing to appear in modern-day retcon appearances and flashbacks — include the Whizzer, Miss America, the Destroyer, the original Vision, and Paul Gustavson’s Angel. Timely also published one of humor cartoonist Basil Wolverton’s best-known features, Powerhouse Pepper.
DC Comics
DC Comics is known as the king of all comic books. It has been the leader in the industry since its start many years ago. They paved their way with their styles and strategies and many other comics book industries in America followed them such as their rival Marvel Comics. The history of DC Comics has gone on to be a huge part of American culture.DC Comics were able to survive and continue to thrive even when there were times when they had gone through declining periods when comics books were losing interest. However, today they proved to be one of the most successful stories in the comic book industry and are a subsidiary of the Warner Brothers Entertainment and are also part of Time Warner too.The DC Comics made a name for themselves in 1939 as they were then founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson. During that time its company was known as National Allied Publications. The initials for the DC Comic books were from taken from the Detective Comic series. With that series came the rise of Batman. There was another line of comic books, known as Action Comics, which featured a new super hero named Superman. Over the years these two super heroes became quite popular and to this day they are still two of the most popular characters to ever appear in comic books and went on to spark the way for many other super heroes. There once was a time when this industry was under an attack during the 1950’s as they were not considered to be up to any American standards for any children and the younger generation too. This company did continue to keep its success during that time along with several other companies too, and covered some areas as westerns and romantic stories but it was their reemergence of the super heroes which would lead them to a huge recreation of what made them so successful in the comic book industry known as the Silver Age.

The Difference between Marvel and DC Comics
A difference between DC and Marvel is that DCs characters are always heroes first at the start of the movie as for Marvel they start of as a normal human being. Then the character develops into a superhero as the film goes on.
Another difference between DC and Marvel is that DC set their films or comics in fictional cities such as setting Batman in Gotham City, which this is not a real city. As for Marvel set all their films or comics in real life cities such as Spiderman set theres in New York City.

Sounds of Star Wars

Diegetic Sound
Diegetic Sound is were sounds whose source is visible on the screen or whose source is implied to be present by the action of the film.
- Voices of Characters
- Sounds made by objects in the story
- Music represented as coming from instruments in the story space

Non-Diegetic Sound
Non-Diegetic Sound is were sound whose source is neither visible on the screen nor has been implied to be present in the action.
-Narrator's commentary
-Sound effects which is added for the dramatic effect
- mood music

 Non-Diegetic Sound 3 Examples
1. (0.10) Here in the trailer of star wars in this scene it is a use of Non-Diegetic sound, because the sound isn't visible and it is making an effect for the audience for the dramatic effect. This is a high pitched music at the start of the trailer. It is makes the audience think of who is this character?, What is going to happen next? and What the character is doing?. Also, it shows that the character is alone in this scene.
2.(0.50) The second use of Non-Diegetic sound, here is the music gets louder and more tense. Its effects the reader by knowing that something is going to happen next and everything is going to go into action. Here the music makes it more exciting for the audience and it makes them want to watch more to see what happens next.

3.(1.05) The third use of Non-Diegetic sound was used in this scene on the trailer. Here the music is also loud but it is even louder. This creates tension as action is being taken place and makes the audience want to watch more. It also makes it exciting to see what is happening and makes you want to watch the film.

Diegetic Sound 3 Examples
1.(1.18) Here in the Star wars trailer in this scene the directer has used Diegetic sound. As in this scene it is the sound of the spaceships in the trailer. This effects our emotions by making the audience feel excited because action is being taken place by the spaceships fighting and shouting guns. This also makes the audience want to watch more to see what happens to see who wins the battle.
2.(1.36) The second Diegetic sound in this scene is of the sound of spaceships shooting and exploding. This effects the audience by making us excited and also could be devastation. Exciting because you wanted the side what made the other spaceship explode to win but also there could be devastation as the side the spaceship exploded you wanted them to win but they didn't. So there can be mixed emotions for this scene for the audience.

3.(1.50) Finally, the last Diegetic sound in this scene is the sound of bullets from all different directions being shot. This creates tension for the audience because they don't no which side is going to win. Also the audience could be feeling excited to see what happens next as a lot of different actions are being taken place. This also makes the audience want to watch more to see what side wins and because it is exciting to watch not boring this also makes the audience want to watch more to see what happens next.

Mise en son- Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

Mise en son- Scott VS The world official trailer 3 Screenshots
In this scene it is Lighting and colour, Ramona is lit up brighter than the two characters behind her. This shows us that she is more important in this scene from the characters behind her as the characters behind her are darker than Ramona. This also could mean because she is lit up she is very different to the other characters and everyone now a days as not many people have purple hair, this also makes her stand out from the two characters behind her.

Here the Directer has used Facial Expressions and Body Language , they has also used Positioning of characters and objects within the frame. They have used Facial Expressions and Body Language to show us how the two characters are feeling about each other, here it shows they are together and are in love. The Body Language shows they are together as they are very close to each other. Also the directer has used Positioning of Characters, this shows us that the two characters are in a relationship so they are very close. It has also drawn our attention through the positioning of the characters.
In this scene the directer has used Costume, Hair and makeup. Here this shows that the his hair is black and this could suggest that the character is very unusual and different to other people. His black makeup around his eye suggest that he has an evil personality. This photo is also Facial expressions and body language as his fist is clenched, so he is angry at Scott and is going to punch him. Another Mise en son is used in this screenshot is Lighting and colour and all the characters is the background are blurred is in a darker light as for him this shows he is the important character in this scene as all the light in on him.

Maze Runner - Camera shots

Maze Runner Camera and Angle shots
1. In the Maze Runner trailer a Camera shot the directer uses is a Establishing shot/ Extreme long shot. This allows us to see were is the scene this taken place. This shows the characters surroundings and atmosphere, this effects us because it allows us to be in the characters shoes.
2. Here is a Two shot. This is when two figures are in a scene and it allows us to see what relationship they have and if they like each other or not between the two characters. This suggests that these two characters have a relationship of Mother and Son and with there body language you can tell they are very close.
3.In this scene the directer has used a Point of View shot (POT). This allows us to what the character is looking at,This shows us that the two characters are having a conversation.
4. A Mid shot has been used in this scene, this is were you can only see from waste upwards on a character. This also allows us to see there facial expressions and reactions. Here the charcter is looking at something and his facial experssions shows us he is shocked.
5. Here is a High Angle shot, this allows us to see the characters surrounding and the camera is looking down on the characters. This makes the characters look small, this angle is usally used when the directer wants to show us how big the surrounding are two the characters.
